105th Anniversary
The year was 1915.
Jim Crow laws were mandating the separation of the races in practically every aspect of public life.
Water fountains, restaurants, theaters, stores, buses, trains, workplaces, and other public facilities displayed "White Only" and "Colored" signs.
Determined to carry on the Lord's work, faithful saints from the Neuse River's south side started holding services on the Neuse River banks. The stress and strain of having to worship in this manner became unbearable, so they began to have worship at the old Elevation Schoolhouse. Elevation Baptist Church was formally organized in 1924.
Can you imagine that Elevation was birthed during this time by God for three reasons?
1) Preaching the word of God
2) Training Christian discipleship
3) Evangelism
Please join us in honoring the Lord God Almighty as we continue to maintain this historically black church.
As part of the Anniversary celebration, we invite you to demonstrate your appreciation for the church through a sacrificial offering, above your regular tithes and offerings, of $105, $305, or $505.
