Biography

Under the dynamic leadership of Pastor T.L. Carmichael, worldwide ministry is being birthed at Elevation Baptist Church. With evangelism and excellence as focus points, Pastor Carmichael continues to take the church to the next level.

Since Pastor Carmichael came to Elevation in 1998, more than 2,500 people have committed their lives to Christ through salvation and discipleship. The growth at Elevation is a result of the vision given to Pastor Carmichael
— a God-given vision of evangelism. Pastor Carmichael and his wife, Lady Carmichael, instruct EBC disciples to share the gospel enthusiastically. Pastor often says, “You should be able to look around the church and see someone that you have witnessed to.”

With evangelism as a mandate, Pastor Carmichael led the church in the acquisition of 101 acres of land in Knightdale, on which a 3,000-seat
sanctuary will be built. A family life center, K-12 school and outreach center are also planned. On Sept. 23, 2006, Pastor and Elder Carmichael and a host of dignitaries broke ground on the new land, which is just 6.5 miles from the current church site.

Along with evangelism, Pastor Carmichael emphasizes the importance of excellence in ministry, worship and daily life. He encourages Christians to identify their spiritual gifts and use them on the cutting edge of ministry.

In 2007, Pastor Carmichael released his first book, The Power of Trusting God. The book, co-authored with Lady Carmichael, teaches Christians to relinquish control and fully submit to God’s will for their lives.

Pastor Carmichael earned his Bachelor of Science degree from North Carolina Wesleyan College and his Master of Arts in Religion/Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University Theological Seminary in Lynchburg, Va.
Pastor and Lady Carmichael have been married for 31 years. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law, a granddaughter and a grandson.
